Matt Martin Awarded Veishea Outstanding Student Leadership Award
Matt Martin, president of Engineering Student Council, and a member of our founding father class, was one of eight students to be recognized with the Veishea Outstanding Student Leadership Award. According to the Veishea Website, the "award is given to outstanding leaders throughout Iowa State University who exemplify commitment to their organizations and have exceptional leadership skills." Beta's Pairing Wins Greek Week!
Beta Theta Pi, along with Alpha Gamma Delta and Beta Sigma Psi, took first place overall for Greek Week 2008! Our pairing also received several other awards:

• Banner Competition - 2nd place
  
• Window Decoration - 2nd place (tie)
• Spirit Award - 1st place
  
• Lip Sync - Best plot and 2nd place overall
• Greek Olympics - 2nd place

These awards were presented at Vespers on Sunday, April 6th. Beta Theta Pi was also recognized for the best scholarship program for a fraternity at ISU.

Betas participated in a variety of activities throughout the week, including Lip Sync, Greek Olympics, and Polar Bear Plunge. See video of Betas taking the plunge with our pairing.

Dinner with President Geoffroy and Alumni
Alumni Larry Prohaska and Jim Fifield, along with Iowa State University President Gregory Geoffroy, joined the Beta colony for dinner on March 5, 2008. President Geoffroy gave brief remarks for the members and engaged in discussion over dinner. View photos here.

Betas on Winning Varieties Team
The "Labors of Our Fruits" skit, with members of Beta Theta Pi participating, took first place in Varieties Sweepstakes! As well as winning the first place overall award, the skit won nine "best of" awards, including best male vocalist and best supporting actor for Betas Kevin Friedman and Clint Currie. Varieties is an annual production of the Student Union Board, and more information can be found on their website. Watch the performance here. (The actual skit begins at six minutes on the video.)
